Outstanding Woman – Susan Curry

Susan Curry is a pre-eminent business woman in Camden County.  Starting in college, Susan concentrated in public relations, business management and marketing. While working with her family’s business, Taylor Freezer Equipment Company in Pennsauken, Susan learned the value of customer care and service excellence.

Susan moved into healthcare as the Director of Client Services and, later, the Regional Sales Manager, for Protocol Home Nursing and Therapy Service located in Cherry Hill.  She served as a member of the board for the Professional Resource Network for Case Managers, Chairperson of the Home Care Section of the Camden County Long-term Care Committee, and as a member of both the Rehabilitation Insurance Nurses Group and the Jersey Association of Rehabilitation Professionals.

In 1996, Susan transitioned into hospice as Hospice Representative, Program Director and, ultimately, Regional Director for Alternative Healthcare Services which then held ownership of Lighthouse Hospice in Cherry Hill.

In 2001, Susan and business partner, Elaine Cox, purchased the Lighthouse program where she became Chief Executive Officer.  Throughout her career, Susan’s commitment to excellence in patient care has remained constant.  Susan has made Lighthouse the “go to” hospice service in southern New Jersey where “the answer is always ‘yes’”. Serving Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties, Lighthouse is the only hospice in South Jersey which operates its own medical equipment company to
better serve patient needs.

Susan remains active with state and national hospice associations in furthering the cause and public understanding of hospice and end-of-life care. Susan has chaired committees for the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and is a leader in bringing the community and hospice together.

Susan currently resides in Palmyra and, when not with family, she avidly pursues recreational sailing as a member of the Philadelphia Sailing Club.
