AAUW Awards College Scholarships

The AAUW (American Association of University Women) in the Medford area has awarded college scholarships of $1,000 each to Yolima Perez of Delanco and Wandy Rivera of Burlington.

The scholarships are awarded annually to non-traditional female residents of Burlington County who may have left college for family reasons and now want to return on a career path, women who never had the chance to attend college or women in college struggling to balance family responsibilities with paying tuition.

Perez, 35, the mother of a special needs child, wants to become a home health care nurse and Rivera,36, a single mother of three sons, will study towards a degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

The scholarships were awarded at the AAUW dinner on May 8.
