The Compassionate Friends Named Top Resource on the Internet for Grief and Loss

The Compassionate Friends national website was recently given the top spot in the 10 best 2012 resources on the Internet for people experiencing grief and loss.

The announcement from said that “among the criteria we used to select our top 10
websites are quality and depth of content, presentation, and functionality.”

It described The Compassionate Friends as follows: “A nationwide nonprofit organization, The Compassionate Friends is designed to support and give resources to families who are coping with the death of a child. In addition to its wealth of information about healing grief, TCF holds national and regional conferences, (and) facilitates online and in-person support groups for grieving families . . . “

“This is a great honor,” says Patricia Loder, Executive Director of The Compassionate Friends. “Our national website continues to be a work in progress, but we strive to provide as much information for grieving parents, siblings, and grandparents as possible. We are continuing to enhance the resources available, which include our public website and Spanish language sub-site. There is also a Leadership Site available to provide support to our thousands of Compassionate Friends chapter leadership.”

Included in the public website is an Online Support Community (chat) with specialized rooms open most days, as well as general rooms for bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents. Twenty eight English language brochures on most areas related to grief after the death of a child have been posted on the website and are available for download for personal use. There are nine Spanish language grief brochures. The Compassionate Friends has 650 chapters with locations in all 50 states plus Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam.
