Boys & Girls Club of Camden County has launched a very special program geared to help Club Members. The program is called Sponsor A Child.

Sponsor A Child is specifically designed to enable individuals in our community to single handedly help the children of Boys & Girls Club… one at a time. The Sponsor A Child program helps the Club provide access to Boys & Girls Club of Camden County, giving Club Members the opportunity to be productive, to be successful and to BE GREAT.

The Boys & Girls Club of Camden County first welcomed members in January 2002 and now serves approximately 4000 young people per year. The Club’s mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

The Boys & Girls Club has an impeccable reputation of providing a quality youth development program for young people ages 6-18.  Our Club Members have a safe, affordable place to go during non-school hours as well as all summer long. Club Staff is deeply committed to providing fun and educational programs in five core program areas – Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.

Many Club programs help children learn by example.  Young people will commit  to read, peer-mentor, learn positive values, set goals, explore scholarship opportunities, college, careers and prepare for employment.  Club members are empowered to become global citizens who influence their community. They are enlightened through exploring culture appreciation and diversity recognition.

A recent Harris Interactive Study showed that 90% of Club alumni agreed that the Club was one of the BEST things available in their community and over 57% said it SAVED their lives.

Metaphorically, this Sponsor A Child program gives local youth the roots to ground themselves as they develop into fruitful blossoms. Thus, the program’s logo is a tree symbolizing strong personal growth that takes place through Boys & Girls Club involvement. The tree trunk depicts an extended hand being lent to the youth of the program to help them enter a positive life enhancing chance to grow, mature and reach their own personal vision of greatness.

The beauty and success of this program is that one donor can extend their hand and make a positive impact on our local community’s young people – those who truly need it most.

The Sponsor A Child program helps LOCAL children who access our two conveniently located Clubhouses in the city of Camden.  Additionally, Executive Director, Milford Liss, encourages members of the nearby communities to visit the Boys & Girls Club Camden County.  To learn more about this program visit Boys & Girls Club Camden County website…www.bandgccc.org and you will find ways that you can help make a difference, provide hope and opportunity – and even save a child’s life.
